Alli Owens Kentucky Practice Report

Alli Owens had a solid showing today at Kentucky Speedway. The driver of the No. 19 ElectrifyingCareers.com Toyota finished the afternoon’s practice sessions inside the top-five and top-15 for the Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up 150. Owens is confident her practice times will translate to strong results tomorrow.

The ElectrifyingCareers.com car posted the third-fastest lap of the first practice session. Owens piloted her Toyota Camry around the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in 30.862 seconds, only .173 seconds off the leader’s pace.

“We made our mock qualifying run during the first practice session and ended up third-fastest on the charts,” stated Owens. “That gives me a lot of confidence that we’ll be starting close to the front in tomorrow’s race. It feels good to know we’ve got a quick setup in the ElectrifyingCareers.com car. We don’t have to make any major changes or gamble on something we haven’t tested. We know that we’ve got a car that can land us a top-10 starting position.”

Owens completed the afternoon’s second practice session in 15th place. Owens was quick to point out that her race car was much better than its position indicated.

“Our car was great in final practice. It was a little bit tight through the center of the corners when we started, but the team made the right adjustments and it got better and better as the night went on. Eddie (D’Hondt) coached me on the best line around the track and that was a big help.

“Lots of other teams put on fresh tires during practice and their times picked up. Some teams were making qualifying runs. We focused on qualifying in the first practice session and just worked on race runs tonight, so we won’t be as high on the charts. Our car is great, though, and I know we’ll be a force to reckon with tomorrow.”

The Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up 150 at Kentucky Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED TV. Coverage starts at 9:30 EST.
